Listen to the article you already have open

You saved a long read for later, and later turned into the train, the walk, or the dishes. SideReader lets you hear it instead of reading it on the screen.

Open the article and the player is waiting in your notifications. Put the phone in your pocket and listen.

From open tab to audio in one tap

SideReader watches for articles in the apps you pick (browsers by default, plus news apps you turn on). When it finds one, it gets the text ready to read. There's nothing to copy, paste, or share.

Control it from your notifications

Play, pause, skip, and change speed from the notification player. You don't have to keep the app open.

Smooth mode for longer listens

When your phone runs warm, Smooth mode gets a head start on the text so reading doesn't stop mid-sentence.

Choose a voice you like

Sky, a natural US English voice, is free and runs on your phone. Any tip unlocks 10 more US and UK English voices, female and male, for good.

Soon: SideReader Plus

An optional Plus plan is coming soon in the Google Play version. It adds short summaries read aloud, a "Simpler words" mode, and a floating "read this screen" button. The free app doesn't need it.

FAQ

Does it work offline?

The free voices run on your phone, but some voices and languages need a one-time download first. Loading the article itself needs whatever connection your browser or news app needs.

Does it collect what I read?

No. There are no ads, no accounts, and no analytics, and your history stays on your phone.
